<p>As we can see on the military topographical map of the Russian Empire of 1843-1863, there was no settlement on the site of today's village of Hnilec:</p>

<p>On the three-turn map we can already see that the folfark Latoryn appears:</p>

<p>In 1905 there is a mention of the folwark Latoryn in Chomsk parish, Kobryn district, Grodno province, there were 8 inhabitants.</p>
<p>On the one-turn map there is already our settlement Hnilec in 3 places, and instead of our folvark Latoryn there is a tract Latoryn.</p>

<p>From 1921 to 1939 it was part of Poland, in Chomsk Commune, Drohiczyn District, Polesie Voivodeship. In 1921 the village had 15 households, 91 inhabitants. In the ethnic composition of the population of that period the Belarusians made 92%, the Poleszczuk - 8%. The confessional composition of the population was dominated by Orthodox Christians (99%). The village was mapped on the WIG map:</p>

<p>Since 1939 the village was part of the BSSR, in Chomsk parish, Drohiczyn district, Pinsk region. The village had 76 households and 434 inhabitants. The village is marked on the map of the Red Army:</p>

<p>From 12.10.1940 in Khomsk village council. There was an elementary school. In the Great Patriotic War died 10 inhabitants of the village, 5 did not return from the front. Since 1954 in Drogiczyn district, Brest region. In 1959 - 236 inhabitants, in 1970 - 415 inhabitants, in 1995 - 78 yards, 199 inhabitants. Until 2004 it was a part of Kirow collective farm.</p>
